your poker evolution
Everyone who has ever played poker knows what a loss is and how seriously it can impact one’s wallet (if playing for real money). For example, you can lose several hands along with some part of your bankroll, or lose all your money over a time period. It is very important to know not only how to win, but be prepared for losses when playing poker. In this case, you will need a stop-loss strategy in poker. Here, the most important thing is to be able not to try to recoup, to refuse to continue playing and not to let yourself go bankrupt.
The most effective way to prevent serious losses is the stop-loss poker strategy which migrated to poker from the stock market. So, stop-loss poker strategy is a method of controlling the negative balance which allows the player to interrupt the negative series in time (before real serious losses), using not only their inferences, but also actual and cold hard facts as a brake light.
Using stop-loss strategy in poker is rather easy. The threshold of losses, at which a player must stop and exit the game, is set before the game session or after each bankroll increase. Thus, with the help of stop-loss strategy in the game, a player will be able to stop the game as soon as the bankroll has dropped to pre-established thresholds and allow themselves to take a break which is likely to interrupt a series of losses.
At the moment, there are two relatively effective ways of calculating the limit of loss according to the stop-loss poker strategy.
Do not forget that this option assumes the need to adjust the threshold amount not only for the loss, but for the win. If you managed to win $25 at the beginning of the session, then you need to stop at the amount of 12.5 dollars after your next loss (we focus on the formula: 100 + 25 - 10%). To put it more simply, you need to recalculate each time the bankroll significantly increases or decreases. Do not recalculate after each played hand - it will distract you from the game and your chances to succeed will be greatly reduced.
Do not forget that these numbers are no more than a recommendation, they can be changed or adjusted at the discretion of the player. You can increase the loss percentage to 20 or reduce to 5%, however, it's not worth to exceed the 10% mark.
Do not forget about the need to consider your own unique features - if you make mistakes after losing, for example, three stacks, make these three stacks the threshold for the ultimate loss and your stop-loss poker strategy will be more effective.
