The statistical analysis of poker leaderboards helps us to explore which country has brought up the best world poker players in 2017.
Our investigation is based on the Player of the Year ranking from CardPlayer.com. However, these results are not final as 2017 is still continuing and the data changes every decade. The total chart amount is equal to 50 players. They are playing for different countries in online games and tournaments. For more in-depth poker statistics you can check out The Poker Leaderboards. Our goal is just to figure out what the country is the leader.
It should come as no shock that the leader is … The United States of America! 27 poker players who succeeded in poker this year, are from this very country. The USA is a birthplace of most poker stars. America has never achieved significant success in team competitions. However, the US has no peers in all individual tournaments. Despite all legislative restrictions, millions of people are actively playing poker and talented players are revealed every year.
Germany follows America with a huge gap being presented on the chart by only 4 players. This country has troubled relations with poker. Only state-owned casinos can conduct tournaments or cash games. Any kind of cash-games outside of such casinos (home games, illegal casinos) is prohibited. Police raids are not uncommon.
Canada takes the third place of this chart being presented by 3 players. By the way, this country was named one of the most attractive places for poker players thanks to the online poker ban in the USA.
Anyway, no matter where are you from, you can succeed playing poker online at old rooms such as PokerStars, or new ones, such as Ultima Poker.
