Despite the desperate attempts of online poker supporters to persuade lawmakers not to lump all games under a general umbrella, the law was adopted in the original version, and online poker actually got banned.
Back in early August, the situation did not seem hopeless. From the point of view of legalisation supporters, Public hearings in the Senate were successful. However, it was not enough, and the legal rooms’ exit became a matter of time.
Initially, PokerStars planned to leave the market in July, but in fact, could hold out for 2 months longer. Australians will be able to play in the largest room until mid-September.
Although the law is enacted and the exit of legal rooms is inevitable, the founder of the Australian Online Poker Union Joseph Del Duca is sure that the fight is not over yet.
