The next season of the prestigious tournament event PCA, which is gaining momentum these days on the Bahamas, is taking place without Jason Mercier. The day before it became known about the reason why a famous American pro missed one of his favorite tournaments. It is not a secret, that Mercier has been a regular since the beginning of the series.
In October, Jason and Natasha Mercier had a baby. Little Marco has changed the way of life of his parents, including poker. It has been reported that Jason reconsidered his life priorities and decided to exit the brand team of professionals.
Mercier noted that the role of a parent causes a complete transformation of the personality, and he was not an exception. So, recently the family interests began to prevail over Jason’s personal desires. It is noteworthy that Natasha and the ex-member of Team PokerStars were married not so long ago. As the head of the family told, his spouse became pregnant two months after the wedding.
However, the pro also mentioned that it was at the end of 2017 that his sponsorship contract with PokerStars expired. So it was time to make a decision on how to build further relationships with Stars. At first, Jason and Natasha initially intended to combine the care for the future child with a full-fledged continuation of work in the company's projects. In this case, the couple even considered the possibility of traveling to various offline events with the newborn. However, all this was only during Natasha's pregnancy, while after the birth of Marco Henry the couple took a difficult decision to end their partnership with PokerStars.
Jason notes that his communication with company representatives in this context was at ease. The player thanked Stars for more than 8 years of wonderful cooperation, as well as support and friendship of remarkable people from the team.
Mercier recalled 2009 when he joined the team at the age of 22 and felt that this collaboration with a prestigious poker project would continue throughout his life. Today, the American pro agrees that this desire was akin to a child's dream.
Of course, after leaving the team Pokerstars, Jason will not forget about poker.
