Recently one of the biggest European poker festivals took place in the capital of Catalonia. The first major tournament finished on the 21st of August.
The Super High Roller with €50,000 buy-in was won by Russian pro Igor Kurganov. It was the most expensive tournament in PSC Barcelona. The tournament collected 86 entries and €4 million in prize money, which was shared by 11 players. Much less famous Russian Mikhail Rudoy became a bubble-boy in this High Roller.
The bubble burst at the very end of the second game day. Isaac Haxton and Dean Coleman were eliminated before the final hand of the tournament, so the list of candidates for the first prize reduced to 9 people.
The decisive day began with the Daniel Negreanu’s knock out. The most successful tournament player started finals with the 7th stack but preferred an aggressive game manner. Having started with not the strongest hand he finished the tournament on the 9th place (€117,700). The rest of the game was marked by a noticeable advantage of Igor Kurganov. First, he knocked out Stanley Choi (8th place, €154,900). When only 4 players remained in the game, he quickly got through Dietrich Fast and Koray Aldemir. The final heads-up against Bartlomiej Machon did not last long. Kurganov had the lead and agreed to compromise and give €50,000 for the sake of concluding the deal. Machon decided not to wait for suitable hands and quickly lost the remaining stack.
