While the main event of Barcelona poker stage was coming to its final, Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué took part in the high roller tournament for €25,000 and reached the final table where Stephen Chidwick, Ben Tollerene, Christoph Vogelsang, Dan Colman and Mustapha Kanit became his opponents.
A total of 66 players took part in the tournament and Piquet became the fifth earning €129,350. This is his fourth ITM in the Barcelona series. The total amount won by Piqué for the poker career is $275,640. This is much more than Neymar has managed to win playing poker, but less than the other two players — Teddy Sheringham and Tony Cascarino. They earned $329,477 and $593,948 respectively.
Everyone knows that Gerard Pique, the famous Spanish football player, is an avid poker lover, and it seems that he has already infected almost all his club-mates with love for this intellectual game. In a recent interview, the Barcelona player said that many of his teammates started playing poker and often spend their evenings playing cards. Despite the fact that the players of Barcelona have a low poker level, Piqué admits that sometimes they play even in the locker room.
The national team players also spend the evening playing poker when they have free time. Gerard Pique especially singled out David De Gea and David Silva, who, in his opinion, are good poker players.
