Dani Stern, an old-timer of poker circuit, who played for many years at high limits, announced his decision to stop playing poker professionally.
Dani began playing poker at the age of 18. For the first time, he loudly announced himself at the 2 Months 2 Million show in 2009. Stern achieved success playing expensive cash games on PokerStars. Playing online Dani did not forget about live tournaments, but there his progress looked a little more modest. During a 12-year career, he won only $3.7 million. Last year, Dani Stern set a personal record, winning two Aria high rollers, and earning a total of more than $1 million. Later the same year he performed much less successfully, confining himself to one payout at the WSOP ($ 4.5k).
One of the reasons that made Stern quit poker could be changes in the PokerStars VIP program. Dani was one of the most ardent critics of the room and the boycott organizer. Despite the support of many top-regs, he failed to achieve positive results. For many players relying on cashback, the liquidation of the Supernova Elit status was a major setback, and Dani, in spite of his vast experience, was among them. According to HighstakesDB, Dani "supernova9" Stern lost about $1.4 million within last year, mostly losing to the Swedish PLO master "BERRI SWEET", at $200/$400 tables.
